Best Selfie Camera Phones In India

Samsung Galaxy S10+

Find latest price(Amazon)

The Samsung S10 Plus is the most premium model offered in the S10 series. It features a triple rear camera setup. The primary 12 MP sensor has an f/1.5 aperture. It used dual pixel auto-focus technology to enhance photos.  There’s an ultra-wide 16MP sensor and an additional 12MP telephoto sensor.

The rear camera produces excellent exposure and probably has the best dynamic range amongst all the high-end phones. It produces accurate color reproduction with minimal noise levels. Even in low light conditions, you will notice that the camera captures fine image details.

For shooting self-portraits, the device has a dual-camera setup at the front – a 10-megapixel image sensor having a 25 mm-equivalent focal length and f/1.9 aperture, along with a secondary 8-megapixel sensor for depth sensing and for adding a simulated bokeh effect.

The Galaxy S10+ features a unique dual-pixel auto-focus system, which delivers unparalleled flexibility to adjust the subject distance. It allows you to capture highly sharp images from close-up shots to selfie-stick shooting distance.

We feel that Samsung could have improved the depth of field as you will notice backgrounds being a little softer but it is not a big factor that will break your experience. The phone does a great job of separating foreground subjects from the background while adding a realistic background blur.

The S10+ captures incredible skin tones with accurate white balance and smooth color rendering in all types of lighting conditions. Though, in low light conditions, one can feel that the color reproduction is slightly on the duller side.

The front camera has a great flash mode providing ample target exposure with a solid dynamic range. Samsung has improved the capability of the phone to manage noise levels, producing highly smooth photographs that do not show any grains. However, one can notice a lack of fine detail on faces as a trade-off.

Being a top-end premium phone, the Samsung S10+ is an easy recommendation for selfie lovers with the unbeatable camera performance.

OnePlus 7T Pro

Find latest price (Amazon)

The OnePlus 7T Pro is the latest high-end device from the Chinese manufacturer with a triple rear camera setup (48MP + 8MP + 16MP). It takes excellent photographs in all light conditions.

OnePlus have worked on the camera app with the launch of new features such as the Super Macro mode that lets you take crisp close-up shots, and the capability to use the Nightscape mode during wide-angle shots.

The phone is equipped with a 16MP front camera with a pop-up design. The front camera has a 25mm-equivalent focal length with an f/2 aperture.

The selfie camera captures good color with natural skin-tone rendering and face exposure. It offers a sufficient level of detail rendering while shooting at close or mid-range subject distances.

While the OnePlus 7T Pro has one of the best-LED flashes for the front camera, it lacks in-depth field which means people standing at the back in a group shot could get out of focus. We also noticed some level of noise in low light conditions along with some perspective deformation close to the edges of the frame.

Talking of positives, the phone produces some of the best bokeh effects you’ll find in a smartphone. If you love to shoot videos with your front camera, OnePlus 7T Pro would not disappoint you at all. It features a unique stabilization system that will let you move, walk and run freely while shooting without distorting the video footage.

iPhone 11 Pro Max

Find latest price (Amazon)

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is Apple’s latest flagship model. It has a triple camera setup at the rear, featuring a primary wide-angle camera, a tele-camera, and an ultra-wide camera with a 13mm-equivalent field of view. While the front camera is 12MP TrueDepth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

The rear camera performs well in all lighting conditions with great exposure and a rich dynamic range. The phone has a decent low light performance, though we noticed some greenish cast in some photos.

The selfie camera features a Deep Fusion mode, which works like traditional HDR and comprises of differently-exposed frames taken in quick succession. It works sophistically, shifting through each frame pixel-by-pixel to create an optimized result by taking the best of every frame. The mode works best for photography in extremes of light and dark, where night mode won’t capture the actual light.

The selfie camera is extremely capable of taking ultrawide selfies without losing any depth of field. To widen your field of view, you don’t need to tap on anything, just turn the phone to the landscape orientation, and it will turn on the ultrawide mode on its own.

Likewise, based on the shooting conditions, the phone will automatically turn on the night mode if required. While capturing a shot in the night mode, a countdown will commence telling you how long the exposure is required before you click the shutter.

Talking about the video recording capabilities of the front camera, the phone lets you shoot 4k videos up to 60 frames per second, which makes it a great choice for Vloggers. There’s also a feature to capture Selfies, which is a corny name for slow-motion videos shot by the front camera.

With the impeccable camera performance, the new iPhone 11 Pro Max is surely our top pick.

Google Pixel 3

Find latest price(Amazon)

The Google Pixel 3 only has a single camera setup at the back which features a 12.2-megapixel sensor and f/1.8 aperture. Even though the phone doesn’t feature an ultra-wide camera, it has other unique features that make it a solid competitor in this list.

Pixel 3 comes with a Night Sight mode which elevates the photography experience in low-light conditions. The phone captures great exposures with minimum noise levels and has a great color output. The level of detail captured by the rear camera is commendable.

Coming to the front, it has a dual-camera setup featuring two 8MP sensors with f/1.8 and f/2.2 aperture respectively. Both the front cameras are equipped with auto HDR and support full HD video recording at 30 frames per second.

The most striking feature of the selfie camera is the exposure performance, which is best in its class. With Google’s efficient HDR+ algorithms, you get spot-on exposure that lets you capture a great level of highlights with incredible shadow details.

The phone also has a great auto-focus system that is comparable to the Galaxy S10 series in terms of sharpness and detail. Both close and medium distance shots are well-focused, while the camera also takes highly detailed long-distance shots, thanks to its wide depth of field.

If you are a fan of using a selfie-stick to take long-distance shots or group selfies, Google Pixel 3 is the right choice for you. Packed up with its class-leading performance across all light levels, the device is a solid performer as a selfie phone.

Honor 20

Find latest price (Amazon)

The Honor 20 comes with impressive camera specifications on paper. It features a quad-camera setup at the back with a 48MP primary camera supporting an f/1.4 aperture, a 3x telephoto lens, a 16MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 2MP macro camera.

The Honor 20 performs remarkably well with its dedicated Night Mode. However, when we tested the phone in low-light conditions without the Night Mode, it was below average. The phone managed to capture enough exposure with good color levels but it drastically lacked in reducing the overall noise levels. By turning on the flash, we were able to reduce the noise levels but then the photographs suffered from overexposure.

Coming to the front, the phone has a 32MP camera coupled with an f/2 aperture lens for selfies. The selfie camera produces accurate exposure and white balance in normal lighting conditions, while the dynamic range could have been better. In low light conditions, the front camera manages to control the noise levels while maintaining a decent exposure. However, skin tones look highly unnatural due to the limited dynamic range.

The front camera also supports full HD video recording with gyroscope-enabled electronic stabilization, which performs reasonably well to stabilize the video, when you’re moving or running while shooting a video.

Even though the Honor 20 performs below-par without flash in low light conditions, it manages to
provide well-controlled noise levels in all conditions and neutral white balance to produce crisp selfies.

Realme XT

Find best price(Amazon)

The Realme XT features a unique 64MP Quad Bayer sensor by Samsung at the rear with an f/1.8
aperture lens. Inherently, the camera shoots in the 16MP mode but it also supports native 64MP
resolution using the demosaic algorithm.

Under normal light conditions, the 64-MP model captures enhanced images with high levels of detail
and accurate reproduction of colors. Thanks to its 2MP depth sensor, the phone provides excellent edge

Although, there was a little bit of grains in dim light conditions. There is a dedicated Nightscape mode
as well, which lets you take good photos in night conditions. To reduce the noise levels, some of the fine
details are suppressed which are hardly noticeable unless you have zoomed in on the picture.
The only major drawback of the Nightscape mode we found is the additional 2.5 to 3 seconds taken to process an image, which is not ideal.

Coming to the front camera, the Realme XT has a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also has native support to HDR. However, the HDR photos are not up to the mark as you will notice a drop in sharpness.

The Realme XT shoots full HD videos at 30 fps. There is electronic image stabilization as well that works well. Apart from the stock android settings to adjust the camera, the Realme XT includes the “Chroma Boost” function which provides a range of filters for users to customize their pictures.

Oppo R17 Pro

Find best price (Amazon)

The Oppo R17 Pro has a triple camera setup at the back (12MP + 20MP + TOF 3D). For taking a
photograph, only two sensors work, while the third sensor is a 3D TOF camera which is used for depth
sensing. It uses infra-red pulses to create a 3D map of objects.

The rear camera setup also features Smart Aperture that automatically switches the lens aperture
between f/1.5 to f/2.4, with varying light conditions. In normal lighting, the sensor uses the f/2.4
aperture to minimize the exposure. It increases the exposure using a wider f/1.5 aperture in the night conditions.

The Oppo R17 Pro performs well in almost all lighting conditions. It captures good details, with decent color output, and neutral white balance. Even in low-light conditions, the fast shutter speed comes in handy to reduce any artifacts.

Coming to the front, the phone has a 25MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The front-facing
camera performs well in daylight, producing highly detailed and crisp photos. It also has a selfie Portrait mode that works like the Bokeh effect. Although, edge detection is poor and you will notice some part
of your face getting blurred by the effect.

There’s also a beauty mode that is automatically turned on while you take selfies. It adds a smoothing
effect to your photos, which looks a bit over-the-top. You can always turn off the beauty mode from the
camera settings, to take true-to-life pictures.

The front camera supports real-time HDR, which works well by increasing the dynamic range of your selfies. There is no front LED flash, which means you can’t shoot selfies in the dark.

 Vivo V15 Pro

Find best price(Amazon)

The Vivo V15 Pro features a triple rear camera setup (48MP + 8MP + 5MP). It uses Samsung’s Bright GM1 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The camera software uses pixel binning technology by combining four adjacent pixels into one to create a detailed 12MP photo. The secondary 5MP camera is only used for depth sensing, while the 8MP sensor is used for ultra-wide shots.

As for the front camera, the Vivo V15 Pro has a 32MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens. The front
camera also uses the pixel binning technology to create sharp and detailed photos.

Overall, the selfie cam has accurate contrast and maintains a neutral white balance. There’s an AI mode that enhances the color reproduction. If you think your selfies are a bit dull, you can always turn on this mode to get rich colors in your photos.

The front camera also features a Face Beauty mode which is similar to smoothing modes on other
phones. You can turn off this feature in the settings if you don’t want an extra layer of smoothing on
your photos.

The Vivo V15 provides a decent bokeh effect but suffers from poor edge detection. As a result, you will
notice your group selfies not being too crips as you would have imagined. But it’s not very alarming.
