Similarly in PUB-G, the fps were between 100 – 120 at the highest settings. In GTA V and NFS Rivals, the fps were between 70 – 90 fps at the highest settings, which is incredible considering the high graphics demands of both the games.

The Acer Nitro 5 An515-52 is another solid performer in this price range. With an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB DDR4 RAM + 16 GB Optane memory, and a 1 TB HDD, it qualifies as one of the best systems in this range.

The 8th generation i5 has a base speed of 2.3 GHz and a turbo speed of 4 GHz. The processor is fairly fast, though not as fast as the i7 processor found in the more expensive AN517-51 model. 

Display-wise, the laptop has a 15.6-inch IPS panel with Full HD resolution. With 300 Nits of brightness and decent viewing angles, it qualifies as a great display for both gaming and watching movies.

Coming to gaming performance, the laptop features an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB memory. Although it is not at par with the GTX 1650, it is still good enough to run most AAA titles.

While running CS GO, the laptop generated 110 – 140 fps. There was no lag or stuttering, though we encountered occasional throttling in fast-paced firing sequences. In PUB-G, we managed around 80 – 110 fps. There was an fps drop during close encounter fights, but the overall gameplay was really smooth. Similarly in GTA V and NFS Rivals, the laptop consistently generated 50 – 60 fps without any issues.

Acer has used the same cooling system in this laptop as that in the Acer Nitro 7, the temperature remains under control even after long hours of gaming. The use of 16 GB Optane memory is a good feature, compensating for the lack of an SSD.

The display features a 15.6-inch IPS panel with Full HD resolution, anti-glare technology, 45% NTSC and a 60 Hz Hz refresh rate. The display has decent viewing angles and colour reproduction, with great brightness levels to work outdoors. However, to enjoy it to the maximum, you may have to upgrade the RAM. Being an IPS panel, the response lag is also very low.

Coming to graphics performance, the laptop is powered by a Nvdia GTX1650Ti- with 4 GB memory. The card works well in conjugation with the 10th generation i5 processor. For both CS GO and PUB-G, the laptop generated well over 100 fps. The gameplay was totally smooth and we didn’t encounter any delays or extra loading times.

For GTA V, the laptop generated 55 – 60 fps at the highest settings. Likewise, the gameplay was seamless in NFS Rivals at the highest settings at 45 fps.

The keyboard too is pretty neat. You can change the colour of the backlight. The 1.8mm of key travel and raises the actuation point increases its responsiveness compared to regular keyboards.

The only drawback you will find is that the thermals aren’t that great. It tends to heat to 85 to 95 Celsius when you play for extended hours. The battery too tends to drain rather quickly.

While running CS GO, the laptop only managed 70 – 80 fps at medium/high settings. During close encounter fights, the frame rate dropped further to 50 fps as well. Similarly in PUB-G, the frame rate was between 50 – 60 fps at medium settings. We also encountered minor lag in certain sequences, signifying the limitations of the graphics card. Both GTA V and NFS Rivals could only run smoothly at medium/low settings with 35 – 40 fps.

The laptop has a blue backlit keyboard that looks soothing to the eyes in dim light conditions. It has an extra layer of illumination on the WASD keys, enabling you to easily identify them.

The Full HD 15.6-inch display has a brightness of 250 nits. As it is an IPS panel, the side viewing angle is good and the input lag is low, making it ideal for gaming. The refresh rate of 60 Hz is not the best. But, it is optimal for the given processor.
The graphics capacity of this laptop is pretty good. It has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card with 4 GB RAM. You can play even heavy graphics games at a high setting on this laptop. We get 85+ fps while playing BattleField 1 and 150 plus fps with Counter-Strike on ultra settings.
The touchpad and keyboard are decent. The keyboard comes with a bluish-black backlight. The trackpad is large. But its response could have been better. As gamers would connect external mouse, this shouldn’t be a problem for most.
The thermals are tolerable even after playing for prolonged hours. The battery backup of 4-5 hours is also good in this price range.
A drawback however is that it comes with Windows 10 Trial version, while most of the other laptops in the segment comes with fully loaded Windows with lifetime validity.

The 15.6″ display has a 60 Hz refresh rate and 250 Nits brightness. While it is apt for gaming, it might not be the best option for visual designing or editing as it has just 45% NTSC. Laptops for graphic design should have at least 72% NTSC.
The system has a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650ti graphics card with 4GB RAM. Games like GTA, NFS Payback, Counter-Strike and Valorant gave 60fps+ on the highest setting. Now, if you are not gaming, you can switch the laptop to Hybrid mode to increase the battery life.
The keyboard has just a white backlight. As it has Anti-ghosting technology, it ensures the keys presses are sent in the right order and without error. The body looks sophisticated but attracts fingerprints.
The battery backup is 5 hours on normal usage. But reduces to 2-3 hours when on graphics-intensive games. The cooling system is also effective as the system doesn’t get excessively warm on prolonged gaming.
