Difference between 500 and 750-watt mixer grinder?

As you would already know, watts in this context refers to the power of the motor—the higher being the better for most circumstances.

A 750-watt mixer grinder is in no way a necessity if you do NOT extensively use a mixer grinder in your regular cooking routine. If you don’t grind idli batter or dry grind spices, then a 500-watt mixer grinder would be more than enough. In fact, a lot of South Indian families use a 500-watt mixer grinder and a separate table top wet grinder for making idli/dosa batter. This is actually a brilliant idea as the batter made from a wet grinder is tastier and the 500-watt mixer grinder will be more than sufficient for other regular grinding jobs.

But if you don’t want to buy a separate mixer grinder and wet grinder, you could opt for a 750-watt mixer grinder. Not only is it good for grinding idli/dosa batter, but can also occasionally dry grind spices when you run out of them. However, the texture of spice powder won’t be as smooth as mill-ground spices.

750 watt mixer grinders are comparatively more expensive than 500 watt mixer grinders. But, they are generally found to be more durable and their jars are sturdier when compared to 500-watt mixer grinders.

So, now, let us get on to the list of best 750-watt mixer grinders available in India.

Best 750 Watt Mixer Grinders

Philips HL7756 Mixer Grinder

Find latest price ( Amazon)

If you are looking for a budget-friendly mixer grinder, then Philips HL7756 would be an excellent choice. It is a best seller with basic functions and decent build quality.

It comes with a small 300 ml chutney jar, 1-litre multipurpose jar and 1.5-litre wet grinding jar. The largest jar has a polycarbonate lid, while the other ones have plastic lids.

The grinding efficiency of the mixer grinder is fairly good. You can make powder of soft spices like pepper, cardamom etc. But, it may not be apt for turmeric and other hard spices as the coupler and blade may get loose.

But when it comes to making idli batter, milkshakes etc, the mixer grinder did a fairly good job.

There are complaints about the multipurpose jar being delivered without lids. So, inspect the product immediately upon delivery. Otherwise, it is a fairly decent option with moderate durability and build quality that you can buy at competitive pricing.

Preethi Zodiac 750 Watt Mixer Grinder

Find latest price ( Amazon)

Preethi Zodiac MG 218 has been featured in our list of best mixer grinders and best juicer mixer grinders owing to its fairly good performance, user-friendly features and versatile features.

It consists of 5 jars including a 500 ml chutney jar, 1-litre medium-sized jar, 1.5-litre wet grinding jar, 1.5 litre 3-in-1 juicer jar and a 2.1-litre Masterchef jar.

The grinding performance of the mixer grinder is fairly good. It can grind hard and soft spices pretty well leaving a little bit of residue. The wet grinding jar can make idli and dosa batter into a fine consistency without heating it up.

The juicer jar comes with two blade sets- one for extraction and one for blending. The juicing efficiency is pretty good and it can extract juice watermelon, apple, pomegranate and other fruits pretty well. To extract juice from vegetables like carrots and beetroot, you will have to add water.

As it has a spout outside, you can juice a large number of fruits at a go.

The food processor jar is also quite useful. It comes with a citrus juicer attachment, blades for kneading, chopping, slicing and grating. They are quite easy to use. However, we wish it has a proper storage solution for the blades.

It can grate and slice vegetables like carrot, onion, beetroot, cucumber, tomato etc quickly and efficiently. Kneading dough is also quite easy. But, the dough tends to be a bit sticky when water is taken as per the measurement cup. So, it is better to add water as the kneading progresses.

The base of Preethi Zodiac is elegant and comes with an anti-skid base that ensures the machine doesn’t vibrate or move even while doing heavy-duty grinding.

The drawbacks are that changing the blade set of the juicer jar takes a bit of effort. Then, if you keep the spout closed, the juice will make a lot of froth. The noise levels are moderate.

Considering the positives, its user-friendly features and the excellent after-sales service, it is quite worth investing in Preethi Zodiac.

Philips HL7707/00 Mixer Grinder

best 750 watt mixer grinder in india

Find latest price ( Amazon)

If you are looking for a mixer grinder with a food processor jar and are willing to forego a large wet grinding jar, then you could consider Philips HL7707/00 which is priced much lesser than Preethi Zodiac.

The mixer grinder has a fairly durable build quality. The stainless steel used for the jars is a bit thinner than Preethi Zodiac. But the blades are thick. When we checked with people who have been using Philips mixer grinders for 5-8 years, none of them reported any complaint about any damage to the jar’s body. However, the plastic lids tend to get a bit loose after a while and at that point, you may have to change its gasket.

The grinding performance of the mixer grinder is fairly good. It can grind garam masala and turmeric fairly well. Grinding in the chutney jar, turmeric leaves very little coarse residue. But in the medium-sized jar, 60 gm garam masala left about 1.5 tsp of coarse residue.

The chutney jar is wide. So, if you try grinding a small quantity of ingredients, you may have to scrape it towards the blade a few times to get everything thoroughly ground.

The juicer jar is of standard design. It can juice fruits like watermelon, apple, pomegranate etc very well. But, it is not quite good for extracting coconut milk.

The food processor jar of Philips HL7707 has the same attachments and accessories as Preethi Zodiac. It comes with a citrus juicer attachment, blades for chopping, grating, slicing and kneading. The performance of the food processor is fairly good.

Overall, considering the attractive pricing and fairly good build quality, it is definitely an option worth considering.

Preethi Blue Leaf Platinum is one of the successful mixer grinders from Preethi.

It comes with 4 jars. They are the 300 ml Grind N Store Jar, 1-litre medium-sized jar, 1.5-litre juicer jar and 1.7-litre wet grinding jar.

The grind n store jar is one of the USPs of this model as it is quite helpful for grinding and storing spices, chutney etc. The medium-sized jar has 4 pronged blades and it does a fairly good job at grinding curry pastes.

It can grind spices like turmeric and garam masala fairly well. But, it does leave a little bit of coarse residue.

Similarly, grinding batter, making milkshakes is all quite easy and quick.

All jars come with a strong stainless steel body with polycarbonate lids. The lids have a tendency to stain. So, it needs to be washed immediately after use.

The juicer jar can extract juice from watermelon, citrus fruits, apples etc fairly well. But the leftover pulp comes a bit wet which means it retains a bit of juice. However, it isn’t at all efficient at extracting coconut milk as the crushed pulp retains a lot of milk that can be manually extracted. It is better to use the conventional method of grinding in the chutney or medium-sized jar and passing it through a sieve to extract the milk.

The noise levels are moderate. Cleaning the jars are easy, except for the Grind N Store Jar as food may sometimes remain in the gap between the plastic exterior and steel interior.

Overall, with fairly good performance and excellent built quality, it is a good option. But, it is priced a bit high. If you need something a bit more conservatively priced, you can consider Preethi Blue Leaf Diamond.

Philips Viva Collection HL7701/00 consists of 4 jars namely a chutney jar, dry jar, wet jar and a juicer extractor. The chutney jar has a 0.5 L capacity, while the medium-sized jar has a 1-litre capacity. The largest wet grinding jar has a 1.7-litre size and the juicer jar has a 1.5-litre capacity.

Except for the juicer jar, all others have a stainless steel body. The wet grinding jar has a polycarbonate lid, while the smaller ones have plastic lids. The plastic lids fit snuggly when it is new. But over a period of time, it tends to get loose. But, they don’t stain that easily.

The handles of the jar are a bit flimsy along the joints connecting the white and lavender sides.

The grinding efficiency of the mixer grinder is fairly good. It can grind soft and hard spices, make batter, milkshakes etc, quickly. However, while grinding spices, it tends to leave a bit of a coarse residue.

The juicer jar design is almost the same as the previous Preethi Blue Leaf. It can extract juice from fruits well, but it isn’t that good for coconut milk extraction.

The housing base is compact and attractive. It comes with vacuum suction feet and an overload protection switch. But, it doesn’t have a power indicator.

Overall, at fairly competitive pricing, and with pretty good grinding efficiency, it is definitely an excellent option to consider.

While the largest and the smallest jars have polycarbonate lids, the 1-litre jar comes with a plastic lid.

The grinding efficiency of the mixer grinder is pretty good with strong blades and right jar shapes. The wet grinding jar has a wide opening that tapers off towards the base. This helps create a strong vortex with the blades at the centre to grind all ingredients into a fine consistency.

The unit doesn’t have a power indicator. But has vacuum suction feet and an overload protection switch to keep them safe.

The mixer grinder is fairly quick and reliable. It has a strong build quality with a thick stainless steel body and well-designed blades that impart superior grinding efficiency. The polycarbonate lids used are also of pretty good quality.

You can make powders of various spices in fine consistency and it is quick too. It does a good job wet grinding batter and milkshakes too.

Just like every other mixer grinder, the juicer jar doesn’t do a good job of extracting coconut milk. But, for making fruit juices, it is fine.

The noise levels are moderate.

Butterfly Matchless 750-Watt Mixer Grinder with 4 Jars

Butterfly Matchless 750-Watt Mixer Grinder with 4 Jars

The first thing you notice about the Butterfly Matchless mixer grinder is its stylish appearance. The performance doesn’t fall far behind either. The jars are pretty sturdy and are made of thick stainless steel. The 500 ml chutney jar can be used for both dry and wet grinding. The other two jars with 1.25 litre and 1.75-litre capacity can be used for making idli batter as well as for blending milkshakes and making juices.

The jars are ergonomically designed with a peep lid so that you can check the consistency of the ground paste or even add water without having to open the lid. The juicer jar is also well-designed so that the seeds remain separate from the juice.Talking about the drawbacks, the jars tend to get heated up even after grinding for a few minutes. The grinding consistency doesn’t seem as smooth as Preethi Zodiac or Blue Leaf Platinum too. The noise level too isn’t quite optimal.

Even so, it is a stylish addition and a good option if you don’t plan to do heavy-duty grinding like turmeric, garam masala and such.
